We
have had discussions with local authorities in Charlotte NC area
in past years that
have made it very clear they have no interest or problems with us.
Officials in other areas where we hold events have also been
quoted as saying "we are breaking no laws" and that "we
have the right to freely assemble". Our attorneys, including two of
the top first amendment attorneys in the country have also clearly
stated we are breaking no laws and have the rights claimed by our group. As
all Americans, we value the freedoms afforded us. We meet legally and
with the full cooperation of our host facilities, and have been holding
events since 1991. We conduct our affairs privately and our
events are not open to the general public. We do not break any laws and
do not tolerate the use of drugs. We are regular everyday couples
seeking the friendship and companionship of others who think as we do.
We expect that our right to privacy be respected. We therefore ignore all requests from the media for information. We will not allow the media to affect the club’s events. The media cannot identify club members even if they had some way of doing so (which they do not!) as we are private citizens breaking no laws… so our members’ privacy is guaranteed!
